Caerlaverock Wetland Centre
Caerlaverock, Dumfriesshire
A Brit Visited: Saturday 12 May 2018
This is a beautiful place at the end of a narrow no-through road.
One of nine places run by the WWT, the centre is set close to the coast, with views across the the Cumbrian hills.
Visitors will find access to hides, where they will see birds close-up. Purpose built observatories give access to the wetlands and the opportunity to take some amazing prohographs of wetland birds in their natural habitat.
With well laid out paths to follow, bringing a pair of binoculars or that long camera lens, the birds seen will change by the season.
Inside, there is a lovely cafe and a well stocked gift shop. Parking is free, with an entry cost to the centre.
For motor-home owners, the WWT welcome you to stay overnight in the level parking area. There are no facilities and the 2018 cost was £5.00.
I stayed overnight in a very quiet and peaceful spot, one to be recommended.
