Castle Douglas, Dumfies & Galloway
A Brit Stayed: Tuesday 15 May 2018
This council run campsite caters for tents, caravans and motor homes. The majority of visitors were caravaners tonight.
The main spot is a large tarmac area, covered in white line markings and pitch numbers. An almost total lack of grass and rather soulless.
A couple of toilet blocks with showers and laundry rooms cater for the 100 or so pitches.
Although the site is ACSI Inspected, it isn’t part of the discount scheme. The warden said that they were very unlikely to accept the discount option, as they were able to charge full-price and remain busy. At £25, this was a little high given the soulless pitch area.
Set next to a beautiful Carlingwark Loch, this is the redeeming fracture for this campsite. There looks to be a path around the edge.
