Sweetheart Abbey

Sweetheart Abbey
New Abbey, Dumfries & Galloway
A Brit Stayed: Monday 14 May 2018
Set back from the road, a flat tarmac car park provided a free stopover for motorhomes.
There is a toilet black and a bottle bank for those empty wine bottles, but nothing more. There is a water tap in the graveyard next to the abbey apparently, although I didn’t investigate that.
The spot is next to a ruined abbey, which is undergoing some repair work at present. There is an entry cost to the abbey itself.
At the edge of the car park is the Abbey Cafe and further down the village, the New Mill Cornmill offers tours to visitors.
There were six vans staying here tonight. There is no cost nor any evidence of a donation honesty box.
