THE PINK GERANIUM, KIRKBY STEPHEN, CUMBRIA
Review of the cafe

A Brit Visited: Saturday, 28 April 2018

One of the more creative names for a tea shop, the Pink Geranium actually lacks any pink geraniums.

Set in the main street of Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria, this is an old style tea-shop, serving a range of food and drinks.

It was quiet on the Saturday afternoon I visited and for the duration of my stay, I was the only customer. The friendly table service was quick and efficient, with a pot of tea and jug of milk. No top up hot water was offered.

Eating at the Pink Geranium offers a fairly standard fare of breakfasts, sandwiches and snacks. Curiously, rather than the usual ‘breakfasts only severed until 11 a.m.’, the menu advises that bacon isn’t available after 11 a.m. Whether breakfast, sans bacon, can be ordered after the witching hour, remains a mystery.

For a relaxing break, this attractive cafe is worth a visit.
